原力的黑暗面（The Dark Side of Force）一詞最早來自1977年喬治魯卡斯（George Lucas）導演的星際大戰電影 Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 由片中正義的絕地老師父 (Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi）對預言中將為原力達到新平衡的年輕絕地武士路克（Young Jedi, Luke Skywalker） 介紹原力正邪的入門概念，提到他的以前學生達士非德（Darth Vader）便沈迷於原力的黑暗面 – “Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force.” 隨後劇情畫面便也特別展示一段由黑武士造型的達士非德使用黑暗面的隔空鎖喉功來懲處帝國軍官。
續集 Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back 電影中安排道行更高的綠色絕地老師父尤達（Jedi Master, Yoda）為年輕絕地武士路克詳述恐懼與憤怒如何將導致沈入原力的黑暗面。另一方面劇情中達士非德竟原來是路克的生父並要路克知道原力的黑暗面 – “know the power of the dark side” 然後入夥邪派。
1983年威爾斯導演理察馬關（Richard Marquand）與喬治魯卡斯合作再度於電影 Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi 安排了絕地武士路克驚險地幾乎屈從於原力的黑暗面，邪派大魔頭席思（Sith Lord）鼓惑路克的恐懼與憤怒並要路克殺了生父達士非德，最後隨著邪不勝正的劇情路克終於以正義的勇氣與親情的喊話與達士非德聯手解決了邪派大魔頭席思，並就達到原力平衡作為電影結局。
2008年11月在英國溫莎樂高園 Legoland Windsor，冬季休館前舉辦了一場以星際大戰為名的煙火之夜，儘管此時英國天氣是典型的冰風冷雨交加，來恩鯉還是端出新到手的 SE C905 錄下這折騰人的盛會實況 Legoland StarWars Bonfire Night：
